About This Project

Clear Minds Hypnotherapy is an audio hypnotherapy and wellness app, live on the App Store and Google Play with 100K+ Play downloads. I lead the project at Algoace: I review pull requests, guide other developers and run the App Store and Play Store releases.

Backend:

  • Serverless Node.js and TypeScript API on AWS Lambda and API Gateway: 90+ functions across 24 domains
  • 20 DynamoDB tables with secondary indexes and streams, S3 presigned uploads, an SQS queue and 7 scheduled jobs
  • Strict and audit Lambda authorizers, moved into their own stack
  • Achievements, streaks and user levels, play-count aggregation with per-language most-streamed lists, and grouped push reminders through Firebase Cloud Messaging
  • Jest tests for handlers, services and middleware (29 test files), plus API benchmarks with tinybench and autocannon

When the main CloudFormation stack reached 499 of the 500-resource limit, I compared nested and sibling stacks, then moved new routes to a separate stack attached to the same API. The app kept one base URL and the production tables were never at risk.

The benchmark report caught a bug that silently dropped user search results, and database calls that could run in parallel.

Mobile:

  • 40+ screen TypeScript app on React Native 0.82 (New Architecture) with Zustand, offline downloads and 6-language support
  • Google Chromecast casting and a reworked subscription paywall (RevenueCat in-app purchases and Shopify) with local-currency pricing
  • Fixed slow API responses on Android release builds by switching to IPv4-preferred DNS with a stable OkHttp client
  • Analytics and crash monitoring with Firebase, Crashlytics, Mixpanel and AppsFlyer
